What is large-format digital printing?

Large-format digital printing is the process in which printed output is generated on demand by an output device. Large-format printing generally refers to an output larger than 11×17 inches.

What product applications are used in large-format digital printing?

Large-format digital printing is used rather than traditional techniques because of the flexibility and ability to print smaller quantities when needed, saving the customer money. Large-format applications include posters, displays, indoor and outdoor signage, point-of-purchase displays, banners, fleet graphics and vehicle wraps, wall murals, billboards, custom fabrics, wall and floor adhesive vinyl’s, decals, corporate environments, dimensional lettering and more.

How accurate is your color?

Six color CMYK +LC +LM and four color CMYKs do not always match SWOP inks precisely, so the finished product will differ in color from traditional offset printing. The use of Pantone color matches are not always a guarantee as well, our color match process reproduces colors to within 95% of Pantone standards.

What is the difference between raster and vector?

Raster based artwork such as photos, or flattened artwork (from Adobe Photoshop) are made up of tiny squares (pixels) and depending on your resolution and/or final output size desired, the file could have a low quality end result. Any raster elements you wish to use should have a high enough resolution (DPI) before considering them for your large format product.

Vector based artwork such as illustrations or clip-art style elements (from Adobe Illustrator) is made with mathematical calculations, and can be scaled up to any size without losing quality. Keep in mind that any effects used in Adobe Illustrator are raster based and have transparency – this greatly adds to file size and you must have correct settings in your “Document Raster Effects Settings” to ensure best output for these effects. If you’re doing a photo-quality print on a 36″ x 48″ poster, and leave the raster effects settings at default 72 DPI – you may see tiny squares in your drop shadows, as opposed to a smooth shadow.

Which program do you recommend for best quality output of my order?

While it is not mandatory, we prefer Adobe formats (such as PDF, AI and EPS) – if you’re using a program outside of Adobe, it will have to be exported from whichever program is being used as one of the following file types – PDF, JPG, or TIF – prior to uploading.

Do you print using any Spot or Pantone colors for large format printing?

We only print large format products in 4 color process (CMYK). If you use Spot or Pantone colors, please have them converted to process colors prior to uploading your file.

Do you provide Proofs”

Color is important to us, as we are certain it is to you. In order for us to print your job properly, we need something to match color to. If we don’t receive anything from you, we will print a proof to be used for color matching on the press. Dynamite Digital uses an HP Proofing System for all in-house color matching. If you prefer we match to something else, please send it along with your artwork and we will use that for color matching. If you would like to approve a physical color proof, an additional charge of $45 will be added.

What size are your Grommets? How far apart do you typically place them?

We use #2 grommets, they are 3/8″ and silver in color (other colors upon request). Grommets are placed in all 4 corners, and from there they will be placed every 24″ as necessary.

How long will my product last?

Depending on the use and location of the product, longevity varies a great deal.  The new inks and materials today withstand fading and yellowing to ensure a long-lasting, durable final product.  Products will deteriorate more rapidly in direct sunlight.

Do you offer double sided printing?

Yes.  We have many different options for two-sided printing.

Is there a difference in price for printing 1 color or full color?

Most digital work is printed with a 4 color press and it does not matter if it is 4 or 1 color.

What is your standard print resolution?

Depending on the type of press we are using there are multiple resolutions available.  From standard production run resolution to photo real images quality.
